From Shy to Shining: Emily’s Journey
When Emily first connected with Cultivating Growth, she was a little shy, not super confident in interviews, and still trying to find her voice in the working world. But one thing was clear: she knew she wanted to become a veterinary technician.
With support from her employment specialist, Labrina, Emily dove into the job hunt head-on. She applied to multiple positions across the veterinary field, practiced mock interviews, and chipped away at those confidence hurdles one question at a time.
After many interviews (and a whole lot of growth), Emily landed a role at Kennesaw Mountain Veterinary Services and that’s where everything changed.
Over 4.5 years later, she’s still there, thriving.
“I’m basically a jack-of-all-trades now,” Emily mentioned. “I have worked in the kennel, reception, exercise and mobility, and I help the techs. But what I love most is teching which is pulling blood, taking vitals basically like a nurse, but for pets!”
Though she began studying online through Penn Foster, the combination of full-time work and school became too much. Instead, Emily leaned into learning more on the job and it paid off. She’s now confidently handling client information at reception, helping the medical team, and jumping between departments like a pro.
“Working with Cultivating Growth helped me come out of my shell,” she says. “Now I pick things up faster, and my communication skills have improved so much.”
Emily’s journey proves that growth doesn’t always follow a straight line. Sometimes, it takes a
few twists, turns, and wagging tails to find your stride. We are SO proud of you, Emily. Keep shining!
Special thanks to Kennesaw Mountain Veterinary Hospital for providing a learning-rich environment where Emily could grow.
